On Eating Green

Card of the Day

Chicken Nuggets!? Awww come on, it can’t be!

Grandmommy was once a little girl, I know that is hard to believe, my grandchild told me so. Anyway, I lived in the country and my Grandfather killed my sister’s Easter chicken that grew into a rooster, he plucked his feathers and fried him up for dinner. Oh my what a bad dream that day was for me and it stuck with me forever, but I still ate a lot of chicken, until recently.

One tool in our box is called compassion. It is a little used tool when it comes to how our animals are treated to feed millions of people. Most children will never see a chicken killed and then have to sit down at the table and eat it, well especially not one that they got dyed pink or purple in a basket Easter morning. So Grandmommy is understanding of all people who eat meat and knows that most people just don’t make the connection they are eating  a sentient being.

But, if you don’t mind my asking, and it is for the sake of compassion, just google how our animals are being treated, educate yourself and your children so the food that they put on their own child’s table will be nourishing as well as taste good.

Grandmommy suggest that food is medicine and it is important to know the “side effects” of how it is made before we digest it!
